Since this is a running forum I was just wondering if anyone is into le parkour (PK) or free running. Basically it was founded by two French guys, David Belle and Sébastien Foucan though initially it started out as a same sport le parkour and free running are different. You know the chase sequence in Madagascar in Casino Royal? The black guy running away from Bond is one of the founders and that's what PK or free running looks like.
Le Parkour, the art of displacement.
The aim is to move from point A to point B as efficiently and quickly as possible, using principally the abilities of the human body. Meaning that you can overcome obstacles, suchs as branches, rails, walls by using them. It's not an exreme sport, more of an art form. Unlike running it's guided by the notions of "reach" & "escape." You have to react quikly with dexterity to get out of difficult situations. Instead of running the regular way you want to move in such a way, with any movement, that will help you gain the most ground on someone/something as if escaping from it, or chasing toward it. Male parkour practitioners are recognized as traceurs and female as traceuses.
An important characteristic of parkour is efficiency. A traceur moves not merely as fast as he can, but also in the LEAST energy-consuming and most direct way possible. Since parkour's unofficial motto is être et durer (to be and to last), efficiency also involves avoiding injuries, short and long-term.(I guess so does any sport!)
Parkour is also known to have an influence on practitioner's thought process. Traceurs and traceuses experience a change in their critical thinking skills to help them overcome obstacles in everyday life, whether they be physical or mental boundaries
Free Running.
The terms parkour and free running were once identical in meaning, but have are different things. After the two founders went seperate ways, free running involved into an art that regarded true and complete freedom of movement as more important than efficiency. Free running is a discipline to self development, following your own way. While traceurs and traceuses practice parkour in order to improve their ability to overcome obstacles faster and in the most efficient manner, free runners practice and employ a broader array of movements that are not always necessary in order to overcome obstacles.

I loved that scene in Casino Royal! It reminded me somewhat of Crouching Tiger,Hidden Dragon's magic. But this can be done in reality. Thanks for the info.
1Here is a vid of the art being performed in the city and the woods.
